See, G? I'm trying to take the right steps in my disease!

Okee dokee.

Today I was reading G's blog. She totally challenges me to say no. We could talk hours about our troubles and consequences that come with this sickness.

She is taking steps toward freedom. It is exciting the risks she's taking. I ache to take the same adventure.

I need help.

I need a phrase to memorize to encourage me not only to say no, but also to do it with out giving an excuse. That is my biggest boo boo. Or, if ya got a verse that'll convict the mess outta me to say no, then that'll work too.

Anyone know of a word that rhymes with "excuse"?

...so I was thinking about this whole saying "no" thing...and the verse that comes to my mind is found in 1 Corinthians 15:58:
"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord."
I think this fits to a degree...you must be steadfast knowing that you cannot always say "yes" to everyone who asks of you to do something for them or with them. It is very freeing when you actually do say no because it feels like you are in more control of yourself than allowing for others to dominate YOUR life instead of Christ.
~okay, well...that is my two cents worth :) talk to you later...

Here is my thought:

Psalms 62:5-8 "My soul wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour our your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah."

All this other stuff that people want you to do--just remind yourself that THEY are NOT your rock ..they are NOT your refuge-HE is your defense, you will NOT be moved!

I love you so much. I hope that this goes well for you. I know its not easy. I'll be praying for you.

Just say "no"

OR just when someone comes up to you to ask a favor or if you will get involved in something say "I really have to talk to my husband first" then I will go tell them NO...So I gave you the excuse and then I will say no for you.

...so you ask how we got the design for our blog?...simple as this: Stephen did it ;) (I have no clue how he did it, I mean...I watched, but I am not sure I could do it alone). He found it on some site with templates for blogger...so maybe he should answer the question, instead of me (?).
anyway...on a lighter note, are we cool enough to make it up on your "folks that make me smile" list? huh? are we? are we?
okay, friend. talk to you soon.

When I get asked:

"Hey, could you do something obscenely stupid that I'm perfectly capable but totally unwilling to do my own lazy self?"

I usually go:

"Umm...how does 'no' sound?"

and then I give them a SOLID grimmace, shake my head in disgust, and then walk away while simultaneously picturing what ice cream dessert I will enjoy later on that evening. Ice cream helps soothe the inner rage...
